“You are a simple heifer! I’m about fucking sick of you! I wish Tammy was here so she could kick your ass! OHHHHHHHHH, you make me sick!” my mother said to her.
“Excuse me?” Latavia asked her.
“You are excused, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde! Your crazy ass don’t know what you want to do! I usually don’t tell people this, but I think if you smoke a little crack you will be okay. You are that darn simple. You are just finally deciding you don’t want Kenjay after purposely getting pregnant again? Damn it! The holy ghost just touched my soul!” my mother said.
“Give me my baby before you fall out on the floor!” I said holding my harms out. She gave me Kensi and he slept peacefully in my arms. He poked his little bottom lip out and it warmed my heart.
Geraldine stood up then held her hands out in the air. “I come to you today, Lord! I need you now, Lord! I’m about to choke this little bi—I mean heathen, lord! She is the devil! She is the Omen! She was born on 666! She is one of those demons from the movie ‘Insidious’! Please, heal her soul! I pray for her everyday!” she said jumping up and down, moving her shoulders. My mother had been extra for years. I don’t think she will ever change.
She started clapping. “This little light of mine. I’m gonna to let it shine, oohhhhh...”
“Ma! Cut that foolishness out!” I said cutting her off from singing her song.
“I will see you later, Britain!” Latavia said getting up.
“No, you won’t. Sit your behind down and have a seat! You will listen to me and I mean it!” my mother snapped at her. Latavia rolled her eyes then sat down, crossing her legs.
“I don’t want to hear it! Everyone is on Kenjay’s side! Y’all don’t see what he is doing wrong!” Latavia said. I shook my head because I knew my mother was about to give her some act-right.
“We see it! I know that he isn’t a saint! But that’s the problem! You saw it too before you got serious with him! Y’all complain about drug money but be the first to spend it! You gladly accepted his ring! I’m sure his drug money paid for it! You are a hypocrite! You are worse than a crocket preacher! I want to know who told your simple ass life is perfect. I had a man get me down so bad I ended up getting on crack! I was selling myself just to get high! I neglected my daughter and she became a mother at thirteen! That was my life! It was far from perfect! But you know what? I have not once shed a tear over my life. You want to know why? Because nobody put a gun to my head and made me do the things that I did. Just like Kenjay didn’t force his life on you! So, no, Latavia, I do not feel sorry for you! How would you feel if he decided he didn’t want to be with you because you see demons? You are not a walk in the park, honey! You are crazy as hell! All you do is bitch and complain! You are trying to control a man that you can’t! Deal with it! People are out here dying from cancer! People are out here stressing because they can’t feed their children and you are crying because your man hasn’t grown up yet! Truth be told, you haven’t either!” my mother said to Latavia.
“I lost my baby!” Latavia spat.
“I understand that. Trust me, I do. But if you felt like it was his fault, you should’ve walked away then. You stayed, got pregnant again then accepted his proposal! So, excuse me for not seeing what the hell the problem is. I swear that boy deserves a better woman!” my mother told Latavia.
“That’s enough, Ma!” I told her. She waved me off.
“If you bite your tongue it will bleed. You are her friend! I’m not! I can say what I want to the heifer! All she wants is some damn attention! Here you are spending time with your new baby and she just vents to you about her problems!” she said.
“I will not sit here and take this shit!” Latavia said getting up.
“There you go again! For the last time you chose to sit there! I didn’t make you! Stop doing shit and regretting the consequences! Have a nice day! God bless you and tell Moesha I said Hi! Maybe I will catch her another time!” my mother said to her.
“Who is Moesha?” I asked my mother.
“I thought all crazy people name their split personalities!” she whispered back to me. Latavia stormed out of the room.
“You know that was wrong!” I said to her.
“So what! She needs a little tough love! Latavia is a spoiled brat and thinks it’s the end of the world when shit happens. I love her dearly though! You better not tell her that shit either! I mean it, Brownie! I have an image to maintain!” she said.
I leaned to the side, kissing her cheek then she wiped it off.
“EWWWWW! You drool too damn much! You might want to check to see if you don’t have rabies!”
“I love you, Mama!” I laughed. She squeezed my hand.
“I love you more!” she said. I wasn’t going to bring up my father. She seemed unbothered about it but time would tell.
O’Shea
I pulled up next to a Suburban. I got out, looking around. It was pitch dark out. I walked into an old barn and the smell of blood and shit hit me. Fitz was sitting in a chair tied-up and gagged. He was bloody and badly beaten.
“About time, nigga! I thought you was going to bluff me out!” Corey said.
“Yeah, whatever, nigga! I couldn’t pass up putting this nigga to sleep!” I said, slapping hands with him.
I didn’t know how this nigga got my number but he called me earlier. He said he needed to meet up with me and that it was urgent. I didn’t know the nigga like that but I could tell he wasn’t a snake type of nigga. I was surprised Fitz was even alive because he was shot and stabbed at Geraldine’s house. That was four days ago.
“How is this nigga still alive?” I asked.
“All he had was flesh wounds. Nothing serious. I made sure I didn’t kill the nigga. I was paid to kill him but I’m going to let you handle it. This nigga violated your shorty. If it was me, and a nigga touched my wife, I would dead that nigga. She was pregnant too! You are entitled to killing this nigga. I wouldn’t be a real nigga if I didn’t let you! I got two kids and one on the way. I take family very seriously. I don’t play about that shit. I kept the nigga alive just for you. So, do your thing!” he said to me. This lil’ nigga was crazy but he was cool with me.
I looked around and it was McDonald’s wrappers on the ground. He wasn’t lying when he said he kept him alive.
I found some gasoline in the corner by a stack of hay. I dumped it all over Fitz. He woke up wiggling around in his chair. He was mumbling something but his mouth was gagged.
Corey handed me some matches. Once I lit them, I threw them on Fitz. He went up in flames.
Corey smiled rubbing his hands together. “Nigga, what you getting a kick out of this?” I asked him.
“Hell yeah! This shit right here is going to make me go home and long-dick my shorty! I’m not going to lie though. The smell of human flesh burning is making me sick,” he said. “Yo, you see the skin dropping off his face? His big ass is melting! Look at that shit!”
“That nigga is still moving!” I said heated that the nigga wasn’t dead yet.
“That’s his adrenaline. He is going to die! We need to get out of here though. This old ass barn is going to collapse on us then we are all going out,” he said. I walked out then he followed.
He burst into laughter. “What the fuck are you laughing at?” I asked him.
“You are the only rapper I know who can be a gutta nigga!” he said then I chuckled.
“You don’t fuck with a nigga’s family, period! That makes a nigga murder somebody. I’m doing a show next Friday. Come through VIP. Bring who you want to. I get up with you later!” I told him. We dapped then I got into my truck, pulling off.
After I got a few miles down the road I pulled over then hit my blunt that was filled with some exotic kush. I needed to calm my nerves because that shit wasn’t like me. Sometimes, I had to question who I was. I didn’t have an ounce of regret. I killed too easily and that wasn’t the person I wanted to be.
I finally made it home. Geraldine was staying wit
h us because of the way her home was fucked up. She was sitting on the couch watching TV on the big flat-screen we had on the living room wall. She was sipping one of my Heineken’s.
“What is your black ass doing sneaking in this late? I hope you not fucking Lebron again!” she said.
“Her name is Jordan, and hell no I’m not fucking her! You are supposed to be saved! Your mouth is terrible.”
“Whatever, nigga!” she said, flicking through the channels.
“Yeah, whatever, Frankie!” I said then burst out into laughter.
“Nigga, did you just call me Keyshia Cole’s mama?” she asked, laughing.
“You act like her!” I told her.
“You know what, you little black fucker! I’m done with you!” I got up then went into the kitchen. I took her another beer and she snatched it from me.
“I got to talk to you about something,” I told her.
“OHHHHHHH LAWWWDDDDDD! You cheating on my baby! Oh, please don’t do this to my baby! I swear, if you cheating on my baby, I will kill you! I swear, don’t fuck with me!”
I waved her off. “I think you should move in with us. I think Britain would be much happier if you stayed here,” I told her.
She sucked her teeth. “Britain just wants to make sure I don’t smoke crack again.”
“Look, just make sure you have all of your things in here by the end of week. I just want my shorty to be happy,” I told her.
“I hope I get the room in the basement. Oh, and I want a built-in Jacuzzi down there, the size of a mini pool. I also want a stripper pole with a stage!” she said.
“Are you serious?” I asked her.
“Doesn’t Jesus have dreadlocks? Yes, I’m serious! You can afford it! Now, get out of my face so I can watched ‘Snapped’. I’m trying to figure out how I can kill Lenny’s bitch ass and his mama! I know that bitch knew what was going on! She is lucky I don’t know where she moved! I been waiting to beat her ass!” she spat.
“You can’t fight!” I said laughing. Britain’s mama was a trip!
“You damn right I can’t! I never could fight! One time I was getting my ass beat in school. It was over your bitch-ass daddy! Anyways, this girl was fucking me up. I thought someone jumped me she beat me up so bad. Come to find out, when I was swinging, I was hitting myself! She was beating my ass and I was beating my own ass! Your father walked down the hall and knocked her ass out cold! Those were the good ole days when nobody wasn’t thinking about money,” she said.
“You are a trip, woman!” I told her.
“With extra luggage!” she replied.
As I walked up the stairs my cellphone rang and it was Rissa. This bitch was pissing me off! Lately she’d been calling nonstop. She used to be my publicist until I fired her.
“What do you want?” I asked her.
“I want my job back. I cannot believe you cut me off like that.”
“You wasn’t doing your damn job. What did you expect?”
“I was doing my job when you and I were fucking! You don’t like to talk about that shit now do you?” Rissa and I slept around a few years back. It wasn’t anything serious.
I laughed into the phone. “Shorty, don’t call my phone! Why don’t you be Jordan Liles’s publicist? I mean you were willing to ruin your career for her. I’m sure she can help you out. Don’t call my phone any fucking more!” I told her, hanging up.
I had a feeling this would not be the last of her. Rissa had some shit with her and I wanted to know what it was.
Kenjay
“Yo, are you serious right now?” I asked Latavia as she packed her bags. She had been saying she was going to leave me the past couple of days. Now, she really meant the shit. I’d only been home for a few days now and as soon as I stepped foot in the door, it was some bullshit.
“I cannot do this, Kenjay!” she yelled. I snatched her suitcases off the bed then started dumping her clothes out of it onto the floor.
“What the fuck!” she yelled.
“Yeah, what the fuck? Are you just going to leave me for no fucking reason? What the fuck is wrong with you? You better not kill my baby neither!” I told her. She rolled her eyes then plopped down on the bed.
“Yeah, fix your damn face!” I told her.
“I made a lot of terrible decisions, even selfish ones. I shouldn’t have stayed knowing I couldn’t accept your life. I’m really sorry, Kenjay! I love you but I cannot be with you!”
I sat down next to her as she held her head down and cried. I turned her head towards me and wiped her eyes. “You really going to leave me, shorty?” Usually I could call Latavia’s bluff but she was really serious. I heard it in her voice that she was fed up with me.
“I need to figure myself out. I think we moved too fast and fell in love too quick! I just need my space!” she said.
“Shorty, hold your fucking head up and tell me that shit! You are a grown-ass woman! Fuck you bowing your head down while talking to me?” I said.
She looked me in the eyes as tears rolled down her face. “I don’t want to be with you anymore! I need my space!” she said. My chest tightened up and I balled up my fists. I swung, putting a hole in the wall. She jumped. My hand was bleeding but I didn’t give a fuck about that. I proposed to this bitch and she could do me like this? Even after my car accident she was tripping on me. Latavia kept using my lifestyle as a problem. She got some other shit with her!
I sat down on the bed as she picked her stuff up off the floor. She silently packed as my back was facing her.
“I hope you don’t keep my seed away from me. That’s all I want. Can you give me that?” I asked her. If this bitch told me no then I was going to lose all of my love for her then murder her dumb ass.
“I would never do that!” she said. I wrapped my hand up in a towel then helped her with her luggage. Once she got all loaded up, she got into her driver’s seat.
“I love you!” she said. I chuckled then waved her off. I walked into the house then plopped down on the couch.
“What the fuck just happened?” I asked myself.
A few days later…
The doorbell rang and my head was pounding from the Henny I drank last night. Over the past couple of days I’d been in the house drinking and smoking my life away. I dragged myself down the stairs towards the door. I unlocked then opened it.
“Fuck, you want, nigga?” I asked my cousin Shine. He pushed past me then walked into the house.
“Damn, nigga! What you been doing? Are you alright? You look like you been locked up in the crib watching Tyler Perry plays.”
“Yo, real nigga shit! You need to go home,” I told him. He waved me off then walked into the living room.
“Damn, nigga! Fuck is going on with you?” Sameer asked me walking into the house.
“Oh, so now y’all niggas just be popping up at a nigga’s crib like some side-chicks! Fuck are y’all acting like females for? Get the hell out!” I told them.
“Fuck no! We came over here for breakfast! Wake your woman up and tell her we hungry!” Sameer said.
“That bitch don’t live here no more!” I said. Sameer’s face dropped and so did Shine’s.
“You mean to tell me I can’t get no good food? Oh, hell nawl, nigga! What the fuck did you do? Yo, you are going to lose weight behind this shit!” Shine said.
“Ay young, what are those pink drinks grandma be drinking?” Sameer asked Shine.
“Nigga, those are Ensures!” Shine replied back, laughing.
“Yeah, those! Kenjay is going to need a lot of them! This nigga about to look like that man in the movie ‘Thinner’!” Sameer said. I chuckled because this nigga was a fool.
“Where is Lo-Lo’s big ass at?” I asked Sameer.
“Working! Man you just fucked up my day!” he answered. I forgot him and Lo-Lo had a falling out.
I told them about the ordeal with the nigga Lenny still hiding out. Nobody could find his bitch—ass! His mother was even missing. It was almost like t
hat nigga disappeared but I knew it wasn’t over.
“Damn, I wish they had murked the nigga! He is going to pop up though. He is an old school nigga. This motherfucker probably got another crib in another state somewhere. That nigga isn’t dumb. He had all of this shit planned out before it even popped off! But you have to play it smart and move silently!” Shine said. I nodded my head. Shine was our oldest cousin at twenty-eight. He used to be in the streets years ago until he inherited his father’s hotel chain. His mother Caroline had him by a rich old man. She was a straight-up gold digger. The nigga died four years ago leaving his only son everything. Shine is a rich nigga, but the hood was still in him.
